IT Job Market continues to grow – slowed only by a lack of qualified candidates
Job opportunities abound for qualified and experienced IT Pro. In our survey of top CIOs we found that most (87%) are looking to increase the number of IT Pros in their enterprises. They are looking for middle managers (project managers and technology development managers), experienced IT Pros, and contractors/consultants to back-fill on key projects.
Janco reports that the IT Job Market continues to expand. Over the past year over 11K new positions were added each month. All signs point to that growth continuing. Janco forecast is that over 138K new IT jobs will be created in 2022. The IT job market is now over 3.85 million positions in the U.S.
The CEO of Janco, M. Victor Janulaitis said, “In our analysis of the impact of the pandemic and overall unemployment levels we found that when there is a material shift in the number of full employment states there is a direct relationship between that and both increases and decreases in the number of jobs for IT Professionals. In addition to the most recent events we reviewed, we reviewed the data for the dot com bubble and found the same relationship.” He reinforced, “When there is a shift in the number of full employment states with a shift in the number of states that have high unemployment rates, demand for IT professionals as defined by Janco is directly impacted.”
