Labor Market Softens Nationally
There are 4 fewer full employment states in October than in November
The unemployment rates by states have just been released by the BLS. The data shows that there are now 5 states with unemployment rates that are over 4.5% (2 more than in September) and the number of states at full employment fell to 17 versus 21 last month.
The National unemployment data provides a measure of the health of the overall labor market. A more granular metric is one that considers local conditions - i.e. state and local unemployment.
